I. Core Production Process
Steel Smelting: Using low-carbon steel as the base, silicon (content: 0.5%-4.5%) is added. The steel is smelted via a converter or electric furnace to ensure uniform composition and extremely low impurity levels.
Hot Rolling and Pickling: The smelted steel billet is heated to approximately 1100°C and hot-rolled into thick coils. After cooling, the surface scale is removed through pickling to prepare for subsequent cold rolling.
Cold Rolling Process: Multiple passes of cold rolling are employed to reduce the thickness of the coils to 0.15-0.5 mm (thinner specifications help lower iron loss). Some products undergo intermediate annealing to relieve stress.
Annealing and Coating: This is a critical step. High-temperature annealing (800-1200°C) is used to achieve grain refinement and orientation optimization (grain orientation must be precisely controlled for grain-oriented silicon steel). Finally, an insulating coating is applied to prevent short circuits between laminated iron cores.
II. Main Applications
Power Transformers: Grain-oriented silicon steel coils are core materials used in transformer iron cores, reducing no-load losses and excitation current while improving power transmission efficiency.
Electric Motors and Generators: Non-oriented silicon steel coils are suitable for stators and rotors in various motors (e.g., asynchronous motors, DC motors) and generators, ensuring efficient electromagnetic conversion.
Electronics and Electrical Appliances: Thin-gauge silicon steel coils are used in the iron cores of small transformers, instrument transformers, relays, inductors, and other electronic components to meet high-frequency operational requirements.
Other Fields: Magnetic components in equipment such as welding machines, electromagnets, and electromagnetic clutches rely on their high magnetic permeability and low iron loss characteristics.
